Tyler County Mugshot Record Basics
A mugshot is an intake photograph linked to a booking or correctional record. Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility may hold the image from a Tyler County regional-jail booking. WVDCR Policy 151.00 also describes an Offender Information Report with a photograph in the legal file. The public WVDCR jail search can show a photo on an available result, but the live interface is not a promised archive of people who have left custody.
A photo and a release record prove different things. The image helps identify the person recorded at intake. A signed court order can establish the legal reason for release. VINELink is useful for a custody event, but the research did not establish it as a dependable booking-photo archive for released Tyler County people. Daily Incarcerations is also the wrong tool for this purpose. It is an admissions view, not a release list or lasting photo gallery.

Tyler County Jail Photo Limits
An available WVDCR jail result may include an intake photograph, offender ID, location, issuing agency, case, charge, and bail information. Search from the stable WVDCR hub because deep result links can expire. Select the jail path, enter the name and available identifiers, and confirm Northern or the relevant WVDCR location. Field visibility varies by record.
No official Tyler or Northern released-photo archive was found in the government sources reviewed through August 8, 2026. No post-release visibility period was published either. A missing result may reflect release, transfer, spelling variation, update lag, or a record no longer displayed. It does not prove a community exit or photo removal.
The Tyler County Sheriff maintains an official county page and linked social presence, but no sheriff mobile app or official recent-release mugshot gallery was located. Social posts are selective incident communications. They do not form a complete roster. An older arrest photo also cannot prove that custody ended.
Request Tyler County Booking Photos
A historical booking-photo request should name the custodian that created or controls the image. Do not request confidential medical files, victim addresses, NCIC material, security procedures, juvenile files, or sealed records. A focused request may still be redacted. Preserve the response because it can explain that WVDCR, the sheriff, or another office is the proper custodian.
Tyler County Prison Mugshot Route
The WVDCR Prison Offender Search serves a different record set. Use it when a Tyler County defendant was sentenced and entered the state-prison population. A public prison result may show an offender photograph, offender number, status or location, sentencing county, conviction information, and date fields. The exact visible labels control.
A prison photo is not necessarily the same image taken during the earlier Northern booking. It belongs to the state-sentence record. Likewise, an inactive or discharged prison result is not a substitute for a final discharge certificate. Use the photo for identity context and the official WVDCR release or discharge record for the legal event.
The West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry is narrower still. It may show a photo for a released person who has a legal registration duty. The registry is not a general Tyler County released-mugshot index, and absence says nothing about the broader released population. Follow the registry's current terms and verification process.

Tyler County Mugshots in News
Local reporting may carry an arrest photograph or describe a later sentence, transfer, or release date. Tyler Star News has reported those types of events. Such coverage can help identify a case and send the reader to the right clerk or WVDCR record. It does not prove the present custody status or exact physical release by itself.
Copyright also matters. A visible news image should not be copied merely because it can be viewed online. Link to the report when it provides useful case context, then verify the claimed release through the Tyler court docket and Northern transaction. Agency press or social posts need the same outcome check.
Commercial mugshot publishers and paid-removal services are excluded. Their records may be stale, mislabeled, or severed from a dismissal, acquittal, expungement, or later custody event. No commercial source improves on the official WVDCR, court, and focused-request chain for Tyler County.
Tyler County Mugshot Removal Law
West Virginia Code §62-1-6a limits social-media publication by a defined law-enforcement agency for a minor offense, subject to listed exceptions. When an agency posted a booking photograph for any crime, the statute provides a 14-day removal route after a request by the subject or authorized representative if the charge was dismissed, no indictment issued, the person was acquitted, or the conviction was reversed, vacated, or nullified.
The rule has limits. It expressly excludes DCR and its subordinate organizations from the statute's definition of law-enforcement agency. It governs defined agency social-media conduct. It is not a blanket FOIA exemption, and it does not by itself require deletion from WVDCR OIS, a court record, or a news archive. No specific statewide statute barring commercial pay-to-remove practices was located in the targeted review.
Expungement is a separate court process. West Virginia Code §61-11-25 can cover specified nonconviction records and expressly includes arrest records, fingerprints, and photographs within its definition. Section 61-11-26 applies to certain eligible convictions with significant exclusions and waiting rules. A valid order can remove or restrict records held by the agencies it reaches. It does not turn a missing image into proof of a release date.
Ask the posting agency to follow the applicable removal order or statutory request. If the source is WVDCR, use the WVDCR records route and supply the order. Do not attempt to rebuild sealed or expunged material from copied commercial pages.
Verify Tyler County Mugshot Context
